Getting Healthy / RM3

Comfortable In My Own Body

Today I am camping in Waddell, AZ in the White Tank Mountain Park.  I’m here to support the Buena High School Mountain Bike Team as they race in their fifth and final meet for the Arizona NICA.  And while I am here, I can’t help but draw some comparisons between now and the last time I went camping.

The last time I was camping was early July, and I was not having a very good time.  My body was 75 pounds heavier, my feet and knees hurt so much that it was a pain to walk from our camp spot to the showers.  Walking anywhere was a chore for me.  I found it difficult to stay on my feet for any length of time.  I was grumpy and in a bad mood most of the trip.  I may have made other people’s time there unhappy as well.  I regret that time and am sad that I made it such an unfun trip for my kids.

Today is markedly different.  Getting in and out of the camper is a breeze.  My feet and knees don’t hurt at all, and I enjoy the walks.  I’m so comfortable with myself right now that I don’t want this trip to end.

I am so very grateful for the “intervention” I received and for the help I have been granted from various sources.  I am grateful for my parents who encouraged me to look into a program that would work.  I am grateful for my wife who has supported me in my journey by helping me with meal planning and seeking out healthy supplements.  I am thankful to the wonderful people at Tucson Medical Weight Loss for their knowledge and expertise.   I am thankful to my God and Savior for their blessings.
